This document describes both the setup parts and the usage scenarios of the prepack functionality in Anyware Retail.
Prepacks are mostly used in wholesale selling business, however also in retail business purchasing items pre-packed in size curves from different suppliers. The common scenarios are primarily shoes. but the functionality in Anyware Retail with a wide range of different products.
To enable the prepack functionality, its needs to be enabled in "Anyware Retail Setup", located under "User Experience".
On top of this, the prepacks are connected to size groups. This is due to the fact that the curves are size specific and cannot be applied on different size groups. If the same sizes exists in different size groups, the prepacks need to be created on each size group to be visible.
Follow the steps below to specify different size curves, also called prepack definitions.
On the product card, the prepack definitions are connected to the product on the "Variants" tab.
Follow the steps below to select prepacks and to create prepack variants:
The prepacks will be identified and additional variants will be created, one for each prepack. Each prepack variant will have a unit of measure that equals the prepack code, and the total quantity inside the prepack.
When ordering prepacks, the matrix is not used. If enabled on the documents, the matrix will open when selecting a product. In that case the matrix must be closed immediately. To create prepack order lines, follow the steps below:
This results in a prepack order line being created, with the unit of measure being set to the prepack code, and the quantity per unit of measure equals the total pack content quantity.
When selling shoes on e-commerce, it is needed to split the prepack boxes on inventory into the single sizes. This is done in the item journal, and means that a prepack item entry is negatively adjusted at the same time as the components being positively adjusted. It might also be needed to sometimes compose a new prepack entry on inventory, which means that a prepack item entry is positively adjusted at the same time as the components being negatively adjusted. In order for the cost adjustment to work, these entries are connected so that the correct unit cost can be applied on all relative entries.

When analyzing the item ledger entry after posting, the corresponding component entries are visible, following the last posted line of the journal.
